I have gotten a couple of responses to my question regarding the rate of Venereal Disease in The Villages and I have been told that this information is correct (i.e., the highest rate in the nation). Nonetheless, I have not researched it in any official way and have other things to do with my time right now so I really don't know where the truth lies.

After I wrote the above blog entry, I happened to have my routine cardiology follow-up appointment. To help me relax, my Cardiologist asked if I had been on any vacations lately. When I said yes, as a matter of fact we had visited a place called the Villages in central Florida, a sly smile appeared on his face. When I said, " did you hear what I heard about the Villages" he responded, yes, I am aware of the reputation and as a matter of fact, me colleague recently moved to the area to practice medicine and verified that "yes, indeed, the statistic is true regarding the incidence of Venereal Disease". I guess all day happy hours might lead to a bit of risky sexual activity.
